The Dimora

Comfort surrounded by greenery

Il Giardino Grande is located in the countryside of Parabita a few kilometers from the enchanting town of Gallipoli, which is famous for its golden beaches and crystal-clear sea.

The Dimora is an oasis of peace creating the perfect atmosphere to discover the popular Apulian hospitality accompanied by the tranquilness of nature, and the elegance of a refined and essential design.

Dated back to the second half of the 19th century, the estate was the summer residence to a very well-known and respected aristocratic family of Parabita.  Nicknamed “the Casino” – a term used for housing structures in feudal districts – our Dimora was considered a haven for relaxing and leisure. The architecture associated with the mid-19th century was that of local stone and was distinguished through particular vaulted ceilings surrounded by peaceful and serene gardens to be embraced throughout free time.

Timeless style

The essential goal in the restoration was that of maintaining and preserving the essence of this magical place while creating something new, unique, and full of its original characteristics. The outcome resulted in an elegant Dimora where the past meets current contemporary designs.

Il Giardino Grande is the perfect home for all travelers who love and appreciate little detailed aesthetics and that are enthusiastic about art and history.

Love Story

The name Il Giardino Grande is derived from a beautiful and true love novel named “Il Giardino Grande,” written by Ortensio Secli. Translated means “The Grand Garden” and tells the tales of love unattainable due to social status in the second half of the eighteenth century. Duke Saverio Ferrari of Parabita fell in love with the peasant Rosaria Cataldo. In result they secretly met at Il Giardino Grande where their love was not seen nor judged. Despite the prejudiced discernments their affection continued to grow in the crescents of this garden teaching future generations that love conquers all.

The project was initiated based on the dream that the siblings Valentina and Marco Fasano envisioned by having an intimate and magical place where travelers from all over the world can come and be inspired. Having both worked in international contexts, the two siblings decided to return to their land of origin and to bring this historic home back to life and create a new chapter.

The novel “Il Giardino Grande,” motivated the siblings into creating a prized jewel restored with the inspiration of local architecture. The project involved the restoration of the Casino while maintaining its authentic character introducing contemporary elements that favor local architecture and craftsmanship. Il Giardino Grande is a place where tradition meets elegance and is combined with a genuine and warm welcome typical to those of Southern Italy.
